WHAT IF SINGLE USE PACKAGING CEASED TO EXIST?

Today, fresh produce is delivered from wholesalers to restaurants in single-use packaging that ends up in incinerators. In the Paris area, around 300,000 crates of plastic, wood, and cardboard boxes are incinerated every day, without a single thought to recycle. With Pandobac, the system becomes circular and sustainable.

Pandobac is a turnkey solution, which adopts a zero waste approach. It is based on reusable crates that replace disposable packaging. The service is threefold: crates are rented to wholesalers, crates are then washed ready to re-use, and crates are tracked via a proprietary online platform. The wholesalers pay a monthly fee to benefit from the crates. The service is both cheaper and greener than single-use packaging.

As of today, Pandobac has 12 customers, all of whom arewholesalers in the Paris area. In the last 6 months of activity, over 100 tonnes of disposable packaging have been saved from the incinerators.

Pandobac now aims at multiplying its impact and avoiding as much packaging waste as possible across France and Europe. This means opening new washing facilities in France and beyond, to offer its service to more wholesalers. In order to do so, funding is needed to make the commercial team grow and equip the new facilities.

THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS INSPIRED ME

The idea originates from one of our co-founders named Shu. Shu started her own restaurant five years ago and realised that each food delivery generated an incredible amount of packaging waste and that food wholesalers did not have any solution at hand to help them find more sustainable ways to deliver. She teamed up with two business associates, including myself, and started Pandobac.

We’re doing this by blending a suitable and cost saving solution for businesses whilst changing perceptions on the ease of sustainable living. We are determined to do our best to set the new standard for food transportation and make zero waste the new normal.
