Fruity and Sweet - Novice - Highball

Sangria isn’t just a drink to enjoy on holidays – nor is it a drink that requires sticking to the classic recipe. A Sangria recipe must include wine of course, but did you know that the base spirit is open to personal preference? While a more traditional Sangria recipe favours brandy, our red Sangria recipe has a Scotch twist in the form of Chivas Extra 13 Sherry Cask. With a portion of our blended Scotch whisky matured in Oloroso sherry casks, this brings a deep flavour profile to the drink – and as Oloroso sherry and Sangria are both Spanish exports, you can be sure the Mediterranean flavours marry together perfectly. Finishing this Sangria with soda also adds a refreshing touch and prevents the drink from being too rich. Salud and Sláinte!

Ingredients

[30] Chivas Extra 13 Sherry Cask
[20] Campo Viejo Rioja
[20] lemon juice
[20] sugar syrup
[60] soda water
Orange wedge, to garnish

How to make it

1 Build all ingredients in a glass.
2 Fill the glass to the top with ice.
3 Add garnish.
4 Serve.

WHISKY COCKTAIL RECIPE TIP

Use large cubes of ice (or one long cube) rather than crushed ice to keep your Extra Sangria drink cold without over-diluting it.
