CHOCOLATE SKYLINE COCKTAIL RECIPE

Strong and short - Advanced - Coupette

While there may only be a couple of ingredients in this Manhattan-style drink, it packs plenty of flavour. By washing the whisky with chocolate, the chocolate notes present within Chivas 18 are enhanced, creating a deeper flavour and creamier mouthfeel.
Rather than being thick and heavy like many chocolate cocktails, this whisky cocktail made by the Amateur Mixologist is light, as the chocolate-washing process strains out the whisky to leave the set chocolate behind. Paired simply with sweet vermouth, this is a dessert cocktail that you’ll want again and again.

    Ingredients

  • [60] chocolate-washed Chivas 18
  • [15] sweet vermouth

    How to make it

  1. 1 To make chocolate-washed whisky, stir whisky together with melted chocolate. Place mixture in the fridge overnight. In the morning the chocolate will set and float to the top. Make a hole in the set chocolate and pour through a filter or cheesecloth to remove any smaller particles.
  2. 2 Stir ingredients together with ice.
  3. 3 Strain into chilled glass.
  4. 4 Serve.

WHISKY COCKTAIL RECIPE TIP

When stirring whisky cocktails with ice, only stir until the outside of the mixing glass feels cold – any further stirring will over dilute the drink.

Whisky Cocktail Recipe Tip

The fat washing technique used in this cocktail recipe can also be applied with other ingredients, such as butter, peanut butter or even bacon fat for a subtly smoky, meaty aroma.
