Here are five cocktail recipes with whisky that will bring the tastes of the world into your home on 13th May this World Cocktail Day.
1. William Wallace Cocktail - Chivas 12

The William Wallace is a twist on the classic Rob Roy, created in homage to the Scottish knight and folk hero. And what better way to pay homage to Scottish culture than to use classic Chivas 12? Embodying the vibrancy of the country’s heritage, this whisky cocktail includes deep red vermouth and a dash of orange bitters to showcase the smooth, rich and generous flavour of our classic blend.
To make this William Wallace cocktail:
- 50ml Chivas 12 Years
- 10ml sweet vermouth
- 10ml Pedro Ximinez Sherry
- 3 dashes orange bitters
Stir all ingredients together with ice. Strain and serve.
2. Punch Above - Chivas Extra

The Punch Above uses Chivas Extra as its base. This extra rich Scotch has a deep flavour profile that comes from being selectively finished in Oloroso sherry casks, hinting at rich Mediterranean notes in this cocktail. Serve the Punch Above with slices of citrus fruits to unlock and enhance the Spanish aromas in the whisky, creating a cocktail reminiscent of Sangria.
To make this Punch Above cocktail:
- 3 parts Chivas Extra
- 1 part Oloroso sherry
- 1 part lemon juice
- ½ part crème de mure
- 5 parts pineapple juice
- 1 dash bitters (per serve)
Stir all ingredients together and serve.
3. Mizunara Highball - Chivas Mizunara

Simplicity is key in a delicate Mizunara Highball. Chivas Mizunara marries Eastern flavours and Speyside craft that’s perfect for this easy drink. The whisky highball drink is incredibly popular in Japan, with just one other ingredient to show off the flavour of the whisky: soda. We’d recommend using one large ice cube in this drink to avoid diluting the mix, and to allow the soda bubbles to fully unlock the taste of the whisky.
To make this Mizunara Highball drink:
- 50ml Chivas Mizunara
- 100ml soda
Add Chivas to highball glass with ice and top with soda. Serve.
4. The Chivas 75 - Chivas XV

World Cocktail Day should be a celebration and there’s no better whisky for the job than Chivas XV. The Chivas 75 is a twist on the traditional French 75, swapping the usual base of gin or cognac for Chivas XV. This whisky is aged in French oak casks and should be topped up with the pinnacle of French excellence, champagne, to accent the sweetness of this mix. Prosecco and other sparkling wines will also compliment the sultana and cinnamon notes present in the blend.
To make this Chivas 75 cocktail:
- 30ml Chivas XV
- 20ml lemon juice
- 20ml sugar syrup
- champagne (approx. 30ml)

Shake all ingredients together with ice (without champagne). Strain into champagne flute and add champagne. Drop cherry into glass and serve.
