PENICILLIN COCKTAIL RECIPE

Fresh - Advanced - Rocks or Old Fashioned glass

Created in the early 2000s in New York City, the Penicillin is a relatively new Scotch cocktail that has become a classic in no time thanks to its bold yet refreshing flavour profile. This cocktail’s name heralds back to a time when lemon and ginger were widely used for their healing properties, and their inclusion in this Penicillin drink hints at it being a cure-all.
A Penicillin cocktail features smooth blended whisky and peaty single malt for a drink with a kick. These two bold flavours are balanced by zingy ginger and sour lemon for a strong yet wonderfully refreshing cocktail.

Ingredients

[40] Chivas 12
[10] peated single malt Scotch whisky
[20] lemon juice 15ml honey syrup
[15] ginger juice Lemon slice, to garnish

How to make it

1 To make honey syrup, blend 2 parts of honey with 1 part of water.
2 To make ginger juice, juice 2 parts of fresh ginger and blend with 1 part sugar.
3 Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker.
4 Shake hard with ice for approximately 10 seconds.
5 Strain into a rocks or old fashioned glass filled with ice.
6 Garnish with lemon slice.
7 Serve.
