AULD ALLIANCE COCKTAIL RECIPE

Short and Strong - Intermediate - Old Fashioned glass

Back in the 13th century, Scotland and France created a historic pact named the Auld Alliance. Creating cooperation between the two nations, it remains today the oldest alliance in the world.
In the world of whisky cocktail recipes, the Auld Alliance cocktail takes influence from ingredients originating from these two nations. Chivas 18 is our most complex blend, mixed with French cognac for a delicious short and strong drink.

Ingredients

[40] Chivas 18
[30] Martell Cordon Bleu cognac
Pernod Absinthe rinse
[8] sugar syrup
{1} dash(es) Peychaud's bitters
{1} dash(es) Old Fashioned bitters
Lemon twist, to garnish
Orange twist, to garnish

How to make it

1 In a mixing vessel, stir the sugar syrup together with the bitters.
2 Add Chivas 18 and cognac and stir again.
3 Take a chilled old fashioned or rocks glass and swirl enough Absinthe around the inside to coat the glass.
4 Pour the contents of the mixing vessel into the glass.Garnish with lemon and orange twists.
5 Serve.

WHISKY COCKTAIL RECIPE TIP

Cocktails are stirred rather than shaken in order to not over dilute the drink – which is perfect in a short and strong whisky cocktail like the Auld Alliance! Try to stir the drink together with ice for 20 to 30 seconds before straining and serving.
