WHAT IF WHAT YOU WEAR COULD ELIMINATE SINGLE USE PLASTIC?

Polyester is one of the most popular materials today, making up 60% of the world’s fabrics. Meanwhile, plastic pollution is everywhere – rather than being recycled, it often ends up in incineration plants, landfills or waterways.

Tackling plastic pollution while preventing the creation of virgin polyester made from crude oil is where P.E.T comes in. We’re encouraging businesses to switch to material made from recycled plastic bottles, which helps them attain a plastic neutral status. We help collect and recycle plastic bottles to make into materials and clothing, from bags to silk scarves. Our motto is ‘make sure wastes aren’t wasted’!

FUNDING WOULD ALLOW US TO…

Within our first two years, we averted 280,000 bottles from landfill, incineration and being dumped into waterways through 30 orders. With funding, we will be able to continue promoting the development and customisation of products including daily necessities and customisation of gift products. We want to continue promoting the transparent supply chain and raw material traceability, start online product customisation and sales channels, and also increase recruitment across the business to create complete teams.

MY FRIENDS INSPIRED ME

My two good friends Xiaojing and Ruby inspired me to become an entrepreneur – they are the co-founders of Impact Hub Shanghai, which is a community connecting entrepreneurs.

WHAT’S YOUR BLEND FOR SUCCESS?

To me, P.E.T is a result of blending. My degree in fashion design, starting my own fashion label, my export trading skills, and knowledge in sustainability all suddenly made sense. I feel like the puzzle was finally pieced together in P.E.T.

And as a mother of two girls, I feel like I have a responsibility to my children to make things better. I want to lead by example and make a positive impact on our earth.
