Giving those who feed us the tools to grow

Ricult is providing smallholder farmers with the tools they need to control their own destiny. Our digital platform uses machine learning to map out weather forecasting, soil data and satellite images, revolutionizing farming as we know it and improving productivity. Rather than relying on luck and praying for rain, we use data to give insights to farmers so they can make the best possible farming decisions to increase their income.

A third of the Thai population are farmers and 75% of the world’s poor are smallholder farmers in developing countries. The problem is the same the world over, due to lack of access to information their return is lower than it is in developed countries and they struggle getting loans from banks.

We help farmers get affordable loans, help them increase their productivity through data, and help them sell direct to consumers. We aim to enable these farmers to become economically independent, working on a hand-up rather hand-out approach, to not only improve their own livelihood, but also that of their family and community.

Make our vision a reality. Since launching our pilot in Thailand, we have already increased the income of over 200 farmers by more than 50%. But this is just a start, as we keep improving our machine learning technology, we aim to increase their income by 100% by the end of 2018.

Funding would allow us to expand our team and improve our technology as well as increase our reach to impact more farmers. We hope to create a positive ripple effect throughout the whole farming community through this increased income. As our technology is scalable, it has the potential to improve lives of over 1/3 of the Thai population.

Growing up in a family of farmers in rural Thailand, I witnessed their challenges first hand. My dad is a big inspiration to me, he showed me how perseverance and hard work can lead to success. He has always supported me in my social enterprise goals, and showed me how fulfilling it is to create positive change in your community.
