“I believe there’s an idea in everybody that could change the world for the better, and these inspiring startups are tackling some of the major social issues of our time.” will.i.am, Founder & CEO of I.AM.PLUS, and one of the Chivas Venture Global Final judges in 2018

At Chivas, we believe that blended is better – in life, in business and in Scotch – and that you don’t need to choose between making money and making the world a better place. This belief was instilled by our founding brothers, James & John Chivas, who supported their local community as their business grew in 19th century Scotland.

Today, more than ever, we need to work together to build a more sustainable future for people and the planet. That’s why we launched the Chivas Venture back in 2014, a global platform to support entrepreneurs who are solving the world’s biggest social and environmental issues. Every year, we give away $1 million in no-strings funding, and expert coaching at the Chivas Venture Accelerator Programme.

Over the last 6 years, we’ve received over 12,000 applications, and supported 146 startups with funding and coaching. From turning plastic waste into affordable housing, and cow manure into sustainable fashion, to tackling diabeties with agricultural waste, or lifting people out of homelessness through coffee, these startups have been redefining “business as usual” into “business as a force for good”. Collectively they have already enriched the lives of more than 3.3 million people in over 65 countries, across 6 continents. See our Impact Report for more details.

1. Apply online

We’re looking for innovative startups that use business to solve social or environmental problems. If that sounds like you, don’t wait - create a profile and fill in the application form here.

For the list of participating countries, please see our Frequently Asked Questions, and for full details of eligibility and competition rules, please read our Terms & Conditions.

2. Get selected to represent your country

Each application will be reviewed, and the very best from each of the participating countries will be shortlisted to take part in national finals. We collaborate with the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, at the University of Oxford, to select the most promising entries.

You will be invited to pitch your business to a panel of experts, who will select a country winner to compete in the global finals.

3. Learn & Grow

In March 2020, all 26 global finalists will be flown to the United Kingdom to take part in our Accelerator Programme in London. Hosted by The Conduit – a new London establishment that serves as a home for a diverse community of people who are passionate about social change – the intensive training programme will include one-to-one pitch coaching and a set of learning sessions tailored for social entrepreneurs.

Aside from mentorship by leading experts, the Accelerator Programme is a great opportunity to build a community of world-changers, sharing ideas as well as tasty cocktails. Past finalists have found great value in blending with their peers from around the world - 89% of them say that they have or intend to collaborate with other Chivas Venture finalists.

4. Get your story heard

The first $100,000 of the Chivas Venture fund will be put into the hands of the public, during three weeks of online voting. This will be your chance to inspire people around the world and encourage them to support your startup.

5. Pitch at the Global Final

The Chivas Venture 2020 will culminate in a series of pitches where finalists will battle it out for the remainder of the $1 million in funding. You will have the opportunity to pitch in front of our expert judges as well as a live audience of business experts, influencers and change-makers.
