Using nature to provide clean water to everyone
Hilico has designed a simple and affordable method to collect, filter and store rainwater to provide clean drinking water for those without access to it. This portable, patent-pending device makes the most of the world’s most readily available resource: rain. It collects the rainwater using a leaf-like tarp and filters it twice, before storing in expandable jerry cans.
More than 700 million people around the world don’t have access to clean water and this number is growing quickly. Natural disasters leave thousands without clean water every year. Every minute, somewhere in the world, a child dies as a result of diseases spread by unsanitary water.
Our device weighs less than 700g, is environmentally friendly and provides an immediate solution to those in need. The system reduces illness and as a result, saves lives, money, time and means less people will use plastic bottles. We understand that we need to find ways to bridge the gap between technology and the people who really need it, and that’s what we’ve done with Hilico.
