Before I connected to the Okra grid, I brought electricity to my home by charging a car battery at the community diesel generator. I had to carry a heavy, 40-amp battery on a 5km trip to the generator, and that charge would last only three days. Now, the Okra grid supplies my energy needs for a lower cost. With the money I save from my Okra connection, I’m putting away money for my son’s marriage dowry. I’m also saving time, which I use to look after my grandchildren. I have more electricity to power light in the morning when I wake up before sunrise to begin the day's cooking. It also provides light for my children to study at night.
