Aperitif and digestif cocktails are named so due to when they would be drunk during a meal.
An aperitif is often a lightly alcoholic and sometimes sweet drink – usually served over ice – served before eating, as it was thought to stimulate the appetite. Marking the end of a meal, a digestif was served to help wind down and settle after eating. These drinks are often herbaceous and bitter, served neat. While you can stick to these traditional rules, we think these whisky cocktails are perfect enjoyed any time.
