The third week of The Venture voting has come to an end, with Colombian based start-up Diseclar achieving the highest number of votes.
The environmentally conscious start-up, which creates stylish, high-quality furniture out of waste materials, received 26% of the total votes, gaining $13,188 of funding.
Line 24 of the Ukraine came in second. The start-up, which wants to provide around-the-clock medical call centre to compliment their 24 hour medical alarm service, finished the week with 17% of the public vote and over $8,000 in funding.
In third was Conuco Solar of the Dominican Republic. After winning 9% of the votes, they were awarded $4,519 to help them build and operate a solar farm dedicated to making solar power more easily accessible.
All the remaining competitors gained much-needed funding for their socially aware start-ups as well.
After receiving over 1,000 entries from start-ups across the globe, a shortlist of 16 of the most promising was selected to compete for The Venture’s $1million fund. All of them share a desire to tackle important social and environmental issues, and each one is attempting to address those issues through a successful business.
The finalists have been competing against each other in a public vote for a share of an initial $250,000 of The Venture’s $1million fund. So far, $150,000 has been awarded to the finalists, but with two more weeks of voting to go and $100,000 left to give away, there’s still time for you to make a difference. All you have to do is visit the dedicated page of your chosen start-up, sign in using either Facebook or Google+, and place your vote.
